The construction process of road marking paint has strict requirements that require professional construction and proper technique.
There are 2 construction options for marking paint, including thermoplastic paint and cold paint. Depending on the type of paint, there will be a corresponding construction process. You can refer to the specific process right here:
Construction of thermoplastic road marking paint
Construction of thermoplastic road marking paint includes the following steps:
Lined primer was previously applied to smooth, concrete surfaces
Specialized furnaces are used and heated at a temperature of 200-250°C turning the road marking paint into a homogeneous paste. In the cooking pot the mixture is always stirred and kept warm.
After the mixture is melted and stirred well, transfer the lined mixture to specialized machines. This type of machine has the ability to retain heat to ensure the mixture is always in a liquid state for easier application.
Proceed to draw the line according to the predetermined line.
Remember when applying the cooked mixed road marking paint, it must be finished after 5 hours
When the cooking pot is about 1/3 of the pot, you must continue to pour the cooking powder to prevent the paint from burning.
You can use leftover cooked mixture to dry, but no more than 3 times.
Construction of road marking paint for cold paint
The process of applying line paint for cold paint is generally simpler. steps are as follows:
Step 1: You stir the product well before use. Mix 5-10% of specialized solvents with line paint and stir once more.
Step 2: Stick the tape on both sides of the line to prevent the paint from flowing out of the pre-specified area.
Step 3: Use different devices such as brush, roller to roll evenly on the surface you want to apply road marking paint.
Step 4: Apply 1-2 coats of primer
Step 5: After the primer is dry, apply 2-3 coats of traffic marking paint
What are the methods of applying reflective paint?
In fact, there are currently 3 main methods of reflective paint construction. Depending on the technical requirements, the appropriate reflective coating construction method is selected.
Spray method:
According to the provisions of TCVN 8788: 2011, this method should pay attention to adjust the paint viscosity, spray pressure, nozzle type, paint temperature, distance on the surface to be coated, spray angle and speed of nozzle movement. Spray reasonably to achieve a uniform and continuous coating, in accordance with the paint manufacturer's instructions.
Note: Before applying, it is necessary to spray test on the small test plate, check the state of the paint mixture and the flatness of the paint film. If there is a defect, it is necessary to adjust the spray pressure and paint viscosity. After the test is satisfactory, the official spraying begins.
Scanning method:
According to the provisions of TCVN 8788: 2011, for this method, when applying, care should be taken to immerse the brush in the paint not more than half of the length of the paint brush.
Rolling method:
As specified in TCVN 8788: 2011. This reflective coating application method should not be applied to rough surfaces, edges, corners and not when applying the first coat of primer.
The exact reflective coating process you should know
Step 1: Surface treatment
Before applying reflective paint, it is necessary to carefully check the floor surface to be painted.
For concrete surface: need to remove dirt, grease, clean and dry
For metal surfaces: need to remove rust, grease, clean and dry.
If the surface of the surface to be painted is too dry, the surface should be lightly moistened for easy application
Step 2: Mix paint
After opening the lid of the paint can, use a stick or a specialized paint stirrer to evenly mix the amount of paint in the can.
Reflective paint solution can be applied directly or if diluted, a specialized paint thinner recommended by the manufacturer must be used.
Usually the solvent dilution rate is not more than 5-10% of the paint volume.
Step 3: Apply paint
Put signs and signal lights at both ends of the road to prepare for construction thi
Stir the product well before use. Remember to stir deep into the bottom of the barrel to ensure that the product does not settle.
Apply masking tape to both sides of the line to prevent paint from flowing out of the line area.
Construction of reflective primer paint
This coating is intended to help create color and create adhesion between the concrete surface and the topcoat.
Number of layers of construction: 1 - 2 layers
Applying reflective coating
Stir well the coating mixture and reflective powder, after the primer is dry, roll 2-3 layers of the reflective coating mixture onto the surface of the line.
Wait for the reflective coating to dry, peel off the paper tape, clean it and hand over the project for acceptance
In fact, road marking paint construction has strict requirements that require a team of professional and technically correct construction workers. You can refer to the specific process through the following steps:
There are 2 ways to apply road marking paint including:
Construction of thermoplastic road marking paint
Construction of road marking paint for cold paint
In particular, for each construction method, the process as well as the implementation steps are not the same.
Construction of thermoplastic road marking paint
Thermoplastic paint is a paint with a thermoplastic adhesive (Maleic, Hydrocarbone C5, Hydrocarbone C9, Petroresin...) when applied, we must heat to a certain extent. With a thermoplastic binder, a thermoplastic paint with physical and mechanical properties compatible with the physical and mechanical properties of the applied surface, such as asphalt concrete or ordinary concrete.
The process of applying thermoplastic paint is generally more complicated than applying cold paint.
Construction of road markings with cold paint
Cold line marking paint is a 1-component oil-based, Alkyd or Acrylic-based paint. This is a ready-made road marking paint, when applying, we just need to stir well and use a roller, brush or spray gun to paint.
The process of painting road markings with cold paint includes:
Step 1: Prepare the surface
Surface before application must be clean and dry, free from dirt, grease or impurities affecting adhesion.
Step 2: Mix paint
The builder stirs the product well before use. Mix paint with specialized solvents recommended by the manufacturer. Normally, the paint mixing ratio ranges from 5 to 10% depending on the volume of paint. Stir until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Step 3: Stick the tape to shape the position to be painted
Stick tape on both sides of the line to prevent paint from flowing out of the pre-specified area.
Step 4: Apply primer
Primer is an intermediate layer of paint that bonds the marking paint to the concrete road surface. That is why it plays a very important role.
Apply 1-2 coats of primer
Construction tools: spray gun, brush, roller, ...
Step 5: Apply road marking paint
After the primer has dried, proceed to apply 2-3 coats of finishing road marking paint.

Construction
Apply primer Neomax Primer P11 lót
Neomax Primer P11 is only applied when the substrate is moisture, flat and solid.
Apply primer by brush, roller or specialized sprayer.
Construction norm 0.1 - 0.2 kg/m2, apply 1 or 2 layers.
Construction of Neomax layer
Mixing Neomax paint
Open component A, stir well for 2-3 minutes. Then pour all of component B into the bucket of component A and mix for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is homogeneous;
Note: during the mixing process, the stirrer should be submerged deeply in the mixture to avoid entrained air. Use a mixer on slow speed to mix.
After the primer layer Neomax Primer P11 has dried (usually after about 1 hour), the construction workers proceed to apply the layer Neomax 201
Immediately proceed to apply Neomax 201 mixture after mixing. Apply a single coat to the approved norm. The theoretical consumption density for a 1mm thick coating is 1.3kg/m2.
Use a brush or brush to apply at the base of the wall first;
Then continue to apply Neomax 201 coating with a dedicated brush. The application time is not more than 20 minutes (depending on the ambient temperature);
Use a spike roller to break the surface foam immediately after application.
Apply protective layer Neomax Topcoat T14
Blending paint
Open part A of Neomax Topcoat T14, stir well for 2-3 minutes. Then pour all of component B into the bucket of component A and mix for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is homogeneous.
Apply layer Neomax Topcoat T14 by roller or specialized sprayer, norm: 0.15 - 0.3 kg/m2.
Time to apply Neomax Topcoat T14: After the layer of Neomax 201 has dried (about 24 hours after application is complete)
Neomax 201 can be protected with sand-cement mortar or tile adhesive. In this case, after applying the layer Neomax 201 for about 90 minutes, sprinkle or spray the surface of Neomax 201 layer with completely dry sand, with a grain size of 0.4 - 0.8mm. This helps to create a rough surface to bond with the exterior finishes.
Some notes during construction
Do not add water or other solvents to the products;
While mixing paint, use a dedicated stirrer to mix Neomax 201 and Neomax Topcoat T14. During the mixing process, the stirrer should be submerged deeply in the mixture to avoid entrained air flow and to ensure absolute homogeneity, especially at the bottom and corners of the tank. Absolutely do not stir by hand;
Neomax 201 and Neomax Topcoat T14 should only be mixed, absolutely do not mix individually.
The allowable application time for Neomax 201 is about 30 minutes, for Neomax Topcoat T14 is about 60 minutes at a temperature of 25 ± 2°C. Should be applied when the weather is shady, avoid rain, avoid hot time at noon, especially in summer.
Instructions for standard Takira paint construction
Step 1: Clean and prepare the surface
Surface preparation varies depending on the condition of the wall surface. Specifically:
For the old wall
For old wall surfaces, it is necessary to wash off algae, mold, old peeling paint, dust and old impurities or old putty, ... with a high-pressure clean water jet. Treat areas with mold, algae and fungi with a specialized solution.
In case the surface to be repainted is still new, it is necessary to use a grinding stone or sandpaper to beat the entire surface to create a foothold before applying a new paint layer.
For the wall surface is too old, after cleaning, it is necessary to rinse with clean water and then let it dry before proceeding with construction.
For the new wall
For new walls, 2 criteria must be met before construction: Dry and clean
Make sure the wall surface is dry:
For newly painted wall surfaces, adequate drying time and curing time (from 21 to 28 days) must be given in dry weather conditions, average temperature 30oC, air humidity 80% or reaching less than 16% when measured with a dedicated Protimeter moisture meter.
Make sure the wall surface is clean (no dirt, grease or other impurities)
Use a grinding stone to clean the wall surface to remove all impurities that affect the adhesion of the putty or alkali resistant primer.
Clean again with fine or coarse sandpaper to remove all remaining sand on the wall surface, then clean the dirt.
Step 2: Apply waterproof paint
The waterproof coating helps to protect the house from the effects of rain and wind.
Paint Takira with 2 product lines of Takira cement-based waterproof paint and Takira color waterproof paint. The construction process is also not the same for each type of paint. Specifically:
For Takira cement-based waterproofing paint
Mix paint according to the ratio: 1 liter of waterproof paint + 0.5kg of cement + 0.5 liters of clean water.
Then proceed to apply directly from 2-3 layers of waterproofing. Each class is spaced 2-3 hours apart.
For Takira premium color waterproof paint:
After preparing the wall surface satisfactory, proceed to apply 1-2 coats of Takira exterior primer to increase adhesion.
Dilute paint with 5 - 10% clean water.
Apply 2-3 coats of color waterproof paint.
Step 3: Apply Takira alkali resistant primer
For each type of surface, a suitable anti-alkali primer will be applied.
Indoor walls: Takira Aurora Sealer anti-alkali primer.
Outdoor wall: Takira Extreme Shield Primer, Takira Nano Primer.
Most especially, Takira has a specialized primer for damp walls: Takira Extreme Perfect Primer is specially formulated from excellent anti-alkali resin of Connell Brothers - USA. Extreme Perfect Primer is a completely different super alkali resistant, salt resistant primer with outstanding adhesion...
Construction of Takira primer
Proceed to mix primer with clean water at the rate of 5-10%
Use a roller or a conventional sprayer to paint 1-2 coats of primer, the surface after application must be covered with the wall surface and have the effect of making the paint color uniform.
Step 4: Apply Takira topcoat to finish
After the primer has dried, apply the top coat.
Depending on each surface and use needs, choose different coating products.
Interior coating: high-class interior coating, mid-level interior coating, economic interior coating.
Exterior coating: high-grade exterior coating, intermediate exterior coating, economical exterior coating.
Apply at least 2 coats of top coat. Each class is spaced 2-4 hours apart
After application, clean tools with suitable solvent.
Note on the principles of paint application
Construction from outside to inside
Construction from top to bottom
Construction from difficult position to easy position
Apply continuously to avoid the phenomenon of color difference on the same wall.
